Social Development

The focus of Social Development is the need to put people first in the development processes and promote social inclusion of the poor and vulnerable by empowering people, building cohesive and resilient societies, and making institutions accessible and accountable to citizens. DFractals aims to find innovative solutions to the problems of vulnerability, exclusion, unaccountable institutions, powerlessness, and exposure to violence. We strive to use Social Development to translate the complex relationship between societies and states into operations and promote economic growth, better interventions and a higher quality of life.

For sound socio-economic growth and development of a region, it is essential that its people bear minimum risks and are able to cope with individual and community level vulnerabilities. It becomes essential therefore for governments to help key population groups manage and overcome social and economic risks. DFractals provides professional advisory services in the key areas, which have the ability to improve social protection regimes worldwide. It is our aim to sharpen the focus of development thinking on policies and public investments aimed at achieving more equitable and socially sustainable development outcomes by increasing the assets and capabilities of individuals to improve their wellbeing; the capacity of social groups to exercise agency, transform their relationships with other groups, and participate in development processes; the ability of society to reconcile the interests of its constituent elements, govern itself peacefully, and manage change.

Within Social Development, DFractals works in the areas of Social Protection, Poverty Reduction, Social Exclusion, Reducing Inequalities, Orphans and Vulnerable Children, Civil Society Advisory.

  • Social Protection
Social Protection can be understood as a set of public actions, which address not only income-poverty and economic shocks, but also social vulnerability, thus taking into account the inter-relationship between exclusion and poverty. DFractals aims to design programs and strategies which help realize the human rights of children and families and increase access to services such as health, education and nutrition. Social protection is also a crucial element of effective policy responses to adverse economic conditions, addressing not only vulnerabilities caused or exacerbated by recent crises but also increasing preparedness to future uncertainty.

Our vision is to help our clients extend the coverage and effectiveness of social security schemes, promote labor protection, and protect vulnerable groups such as migrant workers and their families and workers in the informal economy.

  • Poverty Alleviation/Inclusive Growth
Inclusive Growth is economic growth, which creates opportunities for all segments of the population and distributes the dividends of increased prosperity, both in monetary and non-monetary terms, fairly across society. At DFractals, our approach to Poverty Alleviation and Inclusive Growth is multidimensional and goes beyond income; our strategies are designed such that the proceeds of economic growth are shared. We believe that economic growth will not reduce poverty, improve equality and produce jobs unless it is inclusive.

DFractals specializes in the macro-related aspects of poverty alleviation; analyzing fiscal and debt framework, with the view of prioritizing development-spending needs based on a realistic assessment of fiscal space; spending effectiveness, focusing on how well money is spent on poverty; safety nets and risk mitigation; and participatory process.

  • Social Exclusion
Social Exclusion is a complex and multidimensional process of denying or restricting access to individuals or particular communities to basic human, social or political rights, financial resources, economic activities and opportunities that are generally available to everyone else in the society. The result is the degradation of the quality of life of the socially excluded and the loss of cohesion of the society as well. We, at DFractals, believe in social inclusion and non-discrimination to achieve developed and integrated societies. We assist our clients in formulating more inclusive policies to empower the marginalized and give them access to the full range of human rights. Our experts are determined to develop customized measures and upscale the existing regimes to deliver social freedom and equality across the developing world.

  • Reducing Inequalities
Access to education, health, finance, political rights and other key public goods and services are basic human rights, which are required by each member of society, irrespective of gender, race or creed. While some countries have moved beyond these differences towards a nearly equitable society, most developing countries are facing the challenge of providing equal opportunities, resources and rights to each class of people. Egalitarianism is a key principle that DFractals believes in and we work with our clients to move towards the elimination of inequalities. We help our clients conduct assessments and evaluations, and design strategies and operational plans to achieve greater equity and empowerment of repressed groups in health, education, agriculture, industry, and other areas.

  • Orphans and Vulnerable Children
Malnutrition, access to primary education and health, provision of psychosocial support, orphanhood and vulnerability, and access to rights and protection services are some of the key child development challenges facing the governments of developing countries and their stakeholders. It is essential that the children are protected and allowed to undergo the process of human capital formation. Child development has various implications not just at a social level, but at the macroeconomic scale too. We at DFractals, aim to help our clients develop child protection and development policies that ensure the most cost-effective ways of achieving the desired results in the society and economy, while taking into account that making social protection more child-sensitive has the potential to benefit not only children, but also their families, their communities and national development as a whole.

  • Civil Society Advisory
Civil Society refers to the wide array of non-governmental and not-for-profit organizations that have a presence in public life, expressing the interests and values of their members or others, based on ethical, cultural, political, scientific, religious or philanthropic considerations. Civil Society Organizations work collectively towards benefiting individuals who are in need and drive community development, ultimately contributing towards the overall development of the nation and society. At DFractals, we aim to assist the civil society in sharpening ideas and coming up with new and innovative strategies for advocacy initiatives, policies and programmes.
